Today, this triangular block houses an auto dealership and service center. The project's design, in character, scale, and use, will be informed by its unique position at the convergence of these neighborhoods.

Located at the southwest corner of Market Street and Van Ness Avenue, the project sits at a major transit and neighborhood intersection. Pedestrians, commuters, and bicyclists can find their way to the site easily, with over 16 transit lines (including 11 MUNI lines), multiple protected bike lanes, and Highway 101. After years of work with nearby communities, the City adopted the Market & Octavia Area Plan. This plan identifies 10 South Van Ness, and the sites surrounding the Market Street and Van Ness Avenue intersection, as one of the most important locations for significant additional housing in San Francisco.
